On 17 November 2014, DARIAH was officially launched, with an event held in France (the host country for the DARIAH-ERIC legal entity). The inauguration ceremony took place at the Ministère de l’Education nationale, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche (the Ministry of Higher Education and Research), and coincided with the first face-to-face meeting of DARIAH’s General Assembly and a meeting of the National Coordinators Committee.
The event brought together researchers from across Europe, as well as representatives from the European Commission and various scientific institutions. In August, the European Commission established the DARIAH-ERIC (a European Research Infrastructure Consortium) for 20 years, with 15 founding members: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Serbia, and Slovenia.
